Well Ethan’s right lung just keeps getting more murky and sick. Luckily the swift actions of the doctors deciding to go back on ECMO has helped Ethan even though he is going through this lung difficulty. Excellent work super hero’s!
Damn pneumonia! It really complicated things. Ethan has always had an issues with pneumonia. When he was younger he would get it two to three times a year. Each time he struggled. This time is no different.
So the device will be inserted into his lung just to take a peak around. If there is a mucus plug or some sort of yuck stuck in there, they will be able to suction him in a bit more precise manner. It’s like playing a game of eye spy.
We are running out of real estate for machines in our room. There are so many machines. I am not even sure if another machine would even fit. They are going to have to start stacking them up.
He is back on the brain machine. Turns out, his brains are working pretty good still. That is a bonus.
I don’t really know what to do with myself. I can’t help him directly. So I just hold his hand, rub his arm or put the office for him for some type of brain stimulation.
I signed the paperwork to allow the broncoscopy and asked for them to take more cultures to make sure we aren’t missing any secondary infection.
My good news for today. Ethan’s wbc count was a little over 30 yesterday. Normal is 3.8 - 9.8. Today it has come down to 19. That is a nice decrease. The antibiotics are helping. That is a win I will take!
Hoping to find out more as the day progresses. Hoping this will help his very sick lung to regain strength soon.
Glad to hear things are going a tiny bit better. We can take baby steps just keep going in the right direction. He has a great team of doctors and nurses and a fantastic Mom watching over him. Love to all
