😊12/4 7:00 am

Wow!  Ethan’s night was quiet and so was mine!  I woke up with a startle as the X-ray lady was leaning over me saying “mom.......mom” I woke up and almost hit her. I startle easy especially in my sleep. She apologized profusely.  I was embarrassed a little. This poor woman just wants to do her job.

With my expert radiology skills, I assessed that Ethan had good improvement in his lungs overnight.  We will see if those doctors agree with me. I can practically teach a class on interpreting X-rays (not really).

I hopped in the shower cause I was the first one there all thanks to X-ray lady giving me a cattle prod to get out of my nice and cozy vinyl Pizzahut booth, bed. So comfy. I make fun of it but really I am thankful it is here. I can’t imagine if they didn’t have a spot for me to sleep.  Would be sleeping in the floor.

Ethan was finally given soon food. It was turkey and mashed potato’s, so he wouldn’t feel left out from Thanksgiving.  I saw his food and knew right away it was missing gravy. Ethan loves gravy. I said to his nurse in a serious tone “Listen, I inspected what you are going to feed Ethan. Turkey, mashed potato’s, he will love it.  There is no gravy. He really likes gravy. Can you add some for him?”

I was met with a blank stare.  I pointed to the bag of yellow tinged solution that they will be running through his IV line today to offer him nutrition. “That’s turkey and mashed potato’s flavor right?”  I finally got him to laugh. Thanks for laughing at my bad joke buddy.

Ethan was able to wean off a few medications and has remained stable. Hopefully his IV nutrition will help his gain strength.

Thank you to everyone that has been reading about and caring about Ethan. We have so many people to lean on during this journey. Thank you.

  2. I remember that HUGE drumstick he had on his Thanksgiving plate last year and he ate every bit of it. I bet he is getting another one of those drumsticks today. I hope that he likes it AND that it gives him strength for good healing. Love you.

  3. So happy that you both got a good night sleep and that his x ray seems better. It’s about time! And your right, it looks like the gravy is missing. 😆

  4. Turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy.
WHAT HAVE YOU GOT AGAINST THE VEGETABLE WORLD, PATTI????
Oh. Wait. Potatoes are a vegetable.
    Okay, I'm calm now.
Hey, bad jokes (and that was very bad, by the way) are still jokes. Humor and faith get us through. And showers and chocolate and coffee. In no particular order. Hang in there, Mama.... there's a job at URMC radiology waiting for you. :)
